The People God Brought Us This Summer

Some of the biggest opportunities came through a Christmas concert, a music lesson, and a quiet study around a table.

A violinist at camp

We first met a young violinist at a Christmas concert, a classmate of our daughter from music school. She loved being in church, so we suggested to her parents that she come to camp. They agreed, though with real nervousness. She settled into the group quickly and joined in with everything. Now we’re praying that God opens her heart, and her parents’ too. They have a lot of questions.

A smaller camp, a bigger need

This year’s children’s camp was smaller, but it left us more tired than usual. Keeping up with the children takes energy we don’t always have. Please pray with us for young helpers — people who can run, play, and keep pace with them.

Two young men, one hard season

God has been at work in the lives of two young men. He brought them to our church, and we had the privilege of introducing them to faith. It hasn’t been an easy time. One of them recently lost his father and is grieving deeply. Both are now moving on to study for a master’s degree in Psychology. Please keep them in your prayers as they go.

A young family finding faith

God also brought a young couple to us, and we began a Bible study together. Watching the husband’s face light up as he understood the gift of salvation through faith in Christ was unforgettable. We’re finishing the study now — and they’ve asked to become part of our church.

Looking back

Every one of these stories began somewhere ordinary: a concert, a classroom, a table with an open Bible. None of it was our doing. God brought each person, and we simply got to be there when he did. “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them” (John 6:44)]

Keep praying with us — for open hearts, for young helpers, and for the ones still full of questions. God is still bringing people in.
