I rejoice like Solomon that God fulfils His promises. One of them is Isaiah 55:11 — that His Word will not return empty, but will accomplish what He desires. I pray often that the Word sown in the hearts of the children here in Slovakia will do exactly that.
Recently, a boy at our club said something I won’t forget. “Until I went to the club, I did not know that God existed. But now I know that He is.” We had been talking together about how hard it can be to believe in someone you cannot see. I told the children it’s a bit like electricity — you can’t see it, but you know it’s there because your phone charges. God is like that. We see Him in the beautiful things He created, in the things He does in this world.
And the children are seeing it. They’re praying for their friends, and answers are coming. Some of those friends were allowed by their parents to come to the Christmas and Easter programs. Three of their classmates have started attending the club.
At one of our other meeting spots — a local library — only one boy comes regularly, sometimes with his little brother. The numbers are small. But God gave me a picture of a farmer working in a dry field. He doesn’t leave because the rain hasn’t come. He keeps working. So I keep going.
Last time, that boy gave up his craft time so we could go to the playground near where he lives and play archery together. Other children joined us. They asked who I was. I was able to tell them about the club — and that’s where the seed lands sometimes, in the most ordinary moments.
I’ve since written to the city council asking if I could run a simple outdoor club at the playground for half an hour of play, then a Bible story and quiz for any child whose parent agrees. In bad weather, we’d move to the library as usual.
Please pray — that the city says yes, that parents give permission, and that children hear God’s truth and are changed by it.
