Do Bible Quizes really work?
Are they just a fun way for kids to win sweets and treats? Or simply a way to break up the club time so it’s not all about sitting quietly and listening?
No! Bible quizzes serve a much greater purpose. They help determine whether children have been listening and if they understand what’s being taught. They actively involve the children in the club and make learning more enjoyable.
When we look at the life of Jesus, we see that He often asked those He spoke with questions about Scripture. In Luke 10:25-26, a lawyer asked Him, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” Instead of giving a direct answer, Jesus responded with a question: “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” By doing this, He pointed the man back to Scripture, encouraging him to reflect on what he had learned.
While many of us may not enjoy tests or exams, they do help us remember and learn. And isn’t that our goal when sharing God’s Word with children? To help them learn and remember who God is and what He has done for them?
