A Torn Page and a Changed Heart

From June through August, our days were full of camps. It was a season of joy, hope, tiredness, and many precious chances to serve children and share the Good News of Jesus with them.

I’m especially thankful for the volunteer teams who stood with us all summer. They served alongside us, supported us financially, and prayed for the ministry.

God at Work, Child by Child

Year after year, we watch God work in the lives of children. He is also opening new doors for us to meet their parents and share the Gospel with them. Some children came to camp for the first time. Others had joined us in previous years. Each child arrived with a different story, but God knows every one of them.

“The First Time I Heard About Jesus”

One 12-year-old girl from a different religious background heard about the camp and decided to register. All week, she came with questions. On the last day, she had a long conversation with one of our camp workers and shared that it was the first time she had ever heard about Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

She said she believed Jesus is Lord, but she asked God to reveal Himself to her in a special way. She did not want to feel as though she was betraying her faith. Our worker prayed with her, and the girl asked to stay in contact. Please pray for her, and for the work God has already begun in her heart.

A Changed Life

I also want to tell you about two sisters who came to camp for the first time last year. Back then, they seemed hopeless and unhappy, and they kept their distance from the other children. Their behaviour was difficult, and their week with us felt like a real challenge.

This summer, their mother contacted us and asked if the girls could come back. She thanked us for what had happened the year before. This time, the girls brought four of their friends along too.

On the third day, the older sister, who is 13, shared something very personal. She told us she had struggled with depression and had seen a specialist. She also watched many horror films, and some of the scenes had grown so strong in her mind that she feared she might one day act them out herself.

But at camp, she heard that we can bring every burden to Jesus, trust Him, and pray to Him. She went home and prayed in the name of Jesus. As she prayed, she felt a deep sense of peace, as though something evil had left her. She no longer watches those films. She had also dug out the Bible she received at camp the year before and started reading it again.

One page of that Bible had torn, so she carefully taped it to her wall. Her grandmother, who follows a different religion, noticed it and came closer to read it. When her grandmother told her to take it down, she refused. Instead, she told her about Jesus and about the peace God had given her.

Her younger sister, only 9, made a beautiful declaration of her own during camp. In front of the other children, she said that Jesus is the true Lord because He died and rose again — and that she wants to tell the whole world about Him.

Grateful for What God Is Doing

I am deeply grateful for the ways God is moving in these young lives. One prayer, one torn page, one honest conversation — He uses the small things to change everything. “For nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).

Would you pray with us for these children? The seeds planted this summer are already taking root, and God is faithful to finish what He starts.
