Hope Beyond Hurt

It’s not an easy world to live in these days, and one of the groups feeling that most deeply is teenagers. As someone who has spent years mentoring young people, I’ve seen first hand how they long for truth, stability, and someone who genuinely cares about them.

Recently, I read a moving testimony from a worker in Central Europe about a teenage girl living in a correctional facility for young women. From a young age, she faced unimaginable challenges, including substance dependency and difficult circumstances that no teenager should ever experience.

“When she first entered the facility, she was isolated, no visits, no time out of the centre which only deepened her frustration and anger toward others. That’s how she was when the team first met her.

The first story we shared with her was the parable of the Loving Father and the Prodigal Son. Through many prayers, consistent visits, and unconditional care, trust slowly began to grow. In time, her heart softened as she came to understand the depth of God’s love and acceptance.

Today, she is different – calm, smiling, and filled with hope. She has made the decision to leave her past behind and live in a new way. Because of her positive transformation, the facility’s director even allowed her to celebrate her birthday outside the centre for the first time. Her joy was beyond words as she thanked God for bringing caring people into her life.

As her time in the facility comes to an end, we can continue to pray that she will find supportive people and a faith-filled community to help her keep growing in hope and purpose”.
