Building the Sled in Summer

An old Romanian proverb says a wise man builds his sled in summer and his cart in winter. In other words, plan ahead. Doing things on time saves you trouble later. That’s how my work goes. In autumn, we prepare the Easter lesson. In winter, the summer camp resource pack. And in summer, we start thinking about Christmas.

Translation

At the end of May, I translated a Christmas lesson and tract. It’s called “Good News of Great Joy.” The resource pack holds more than the lesson. It also suggests games, songs, and snacks. These can be used in Christmas clubs in schools, kindergartens, and other places. The central truth is simple. Jesus came to save His people from their sins. Children are encouraged to believe in Him as their Saviour. Then they can share the good news with others.

In the prayer room, I am already praying. I ask that the good news of the Saviour’s birth will bring great joy to many children’s hearts.

Children’s Ministry Leadership Course

For six weeks in July and August, the training centre in Romania hosted the Children’s Ministry Leadership Course. Ten students came from five countries. Five were from Ukraine. Two were from Serbia, a husband and wife. One each came from the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Romania.

I was delighted to teach the “Devotional Life” course again. I reminded the students how important a relationship with God is for a Christian worker. To pass something on, you must stay connected to the Source yourself. The other courses were “Scripture Interpretation” and “Interpersonal Relationships.”

I have fond memories of these students. I pray that God will keep them close to Him. And I pray He will use them, wherever He has placed them, for the salvation and encouragement of many.

Good News Across Romania

Over one week in July, the gospel was proclaimed for five days straight. It reached sixty locations across one Romanian county. Workers and volunteers led the way. Local churches gave invaluable help. To keep it well organised, we built the sled in summer and the cart in winter. Preparations and prayer began back in autumn 2025. It was a great joy to see, once again, how God answers the prayers of His children.

Here are just a few clear answers to prayer from the campaign:

“We are grateful to God that, unlike yesterday, there were more children today, and the adults welcomed us with great joy and appreciation. They were eager to serve us juice, ice cream, and sweets for the children, and they even provided lunch for us leaders. Praise God for His provision!”

“We praise the Lord for the three little girls who wanted to ask forgiveness for their sins and accept the Lord.”

“We thank the Lord that He stopped the rain, and we were able to meet with the children in the park.”

“Thank you for praying for the teenagers who were very restless last night during the program. Today they seemed like different people — they wanted to talk and asked many questions. May God continue to work in their lives.”

In the prayer room, I’m still praying for these children and young people. And I pray that regular ministry with children will begin in many towns across the county.
