A young boy lay in a hospital bed on a Tuesday morning for a check-up on an existing injury. By the afternoon, he was back at his Easter holiday club. By the end of the day, every nurse and doctor he had met knew that Easter was not about eggs or bunnies — it was about Jesus, the King of Kings.
This is one of many stories God has been writing through our ministry in the UK this year. And we want to share them, because every one is an answer to prayer.
New faces, new prayers
We had been praying for growth in our after-school Bible club. God answered. Six new children began attending consistently — and one boy started inviting his friends without being asked. A few weeks later, four more boys joined on a Thursday afternoon.
The children are now asking for Bibles of their own. We are in the process of buying Bibles for seven children who come faithfully each week. Pray for them as they begin to read God’s Word for themselves.
Doors opening across the community
In January, a new church asked us to lead their Sunday School once a month. At a birthday party, a pastor struck up a conversation with one of our workers — and a partnership began. An evangelical group heard about our ministry and invited us to disciple children they meet through outreach.
We had also been praying for a new direction for our Fridays after earlier plans fell through. God sent the wife of a local pastor to meet with us, and a new evening Bible club for children is now running on Fridays.
A heart opened to hear
In our weekly youth club, something has shifted. The teenagers are staying longer than expected, and they want to talk about God’s Word. While we were teaching on Jesus and Nicodemus — on being born again — one of the boys quietly told another to be still, so he could hear what was being taught.
That moment encouraged us deeply. The Lord is opening hearts. Ministry takes time, prayer, and patience, but God is doing the slow, steady work of drawing children and young people to Himself.
Back to the boy in the hospital
When he came back to club that afternoon, he received an Easter booklet and a small gift. He told us afterwards that he felt the love of God through what he had been given, and he wanted to say thank you.
A child who spent the morning telling hospital staff about Jesus, and the afternoon thanking God for His love — this is what we pray for. This is what your prayers are building.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
