A Precious Reminder

Recently, Duncan reached out to a retired CEF worker to share what had happened in his life since attending a children’s club almost 60 years ago!

Although they had lived in different countries and had never been in touch, Duncan managed to contact Victor, the former CEF local director who had led that club all those years ago.

He wrote,
“Your witness back then has multiplied in so many ways. I’m looking forward to telling you all about it.”

When Victor and Duncan finally met, it was a very special time. They reminisced about the people and places from their county in Northern Ireland — but most of all, they reflected on how God had led, guided, and blessed them both through the years.

Victor showed Duncan a photo of that long-ago club. Duncan immediately spotted himself and his sister and could even name almost all the children in the picture!

It was at that very club that Duncan trusted the Lord as his Saviour. In the years that followed, he married a Christian girl and became an elder in a church in England. Their two children also came to know the Lord and went on to teach Sunday School in the churches where they lived.

“This is such a precious reminder,” Victor shared, “that nothing we do for the Lord is ever a waste of time or effort. How faithful our God is — able to keep those little ones who believe in and entrust their lives to Him.”

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:58

“I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.”
2 Timothy 1:12
