Good News Club®

The Good News Club® is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship® in which trained teachers meet with groups of children in schools, homes, community centres, churches, apartment complexes – just about anywhere the children can easily and safely meet with their parent’s permission. Each week children aged from four to 12 meet for an action-packed time. Good News Club includes:

  • Singing
  • Memorising Bible verses
  • Missionary spot
  • Review games
  • Bible time (Bible lesson)

During the Club children receive consistent teaching from the Bible. Training is included to build character and strengthen moral and spiritual growth. All children are encouraged to attend a local church.

What are the aims?

  • To evangelise children with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • To systematically teach the Bible using a four-year curriculum.
  • To provide teaching for Christian children and to encourage spiritual growth.
  • Working together with the local church to see these children encouraged to attend regularly.

5-Day Club®

How can we reach boys and girls for Jesus Christ who do not attend children’s meetings in church or Good News Clubs? One of the ways in which CEF is effective in this area is through the 5-Day Club® ministry. 5-Day Clubs are generally held in the open air during the summer months. The club lasts approximately one hour, is held at an appropriate time and runs for five consecutive days.

The 5-Day Club programme is evangelistic and involves:

  • Games/activities
  • Teaching songs which are filled with Bible truths
  • Teaching a Bible memory verse
  • Teaching a Bible lesson
  • Conducting a quiz

The great thrill of being involved in 5-Day Club ministry is reaching the children where they are! Clubs can be held in various places:

  • Open spaces and in residential areas
  • Homes and gardens
  • Schools
  • Parks
  • Beaches
  • Camping grounds/caravan sites

Youth Challenge

Aims

We have three aims in Youth Challenge:

  1. To help young people come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour.
  2. To encourage young Christians to live for the Lord.
  3. To provide opportunities to serve the Lord, especially among children.

CityKids

“If we are to reach the world of the 21st century then we must reach the cities!”  –

Harvie Conn, former missionary to Korea.

There are cities in Europe today where
the name of Jesus is almost unknown because no one has ever shared the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The movement of people groups into and throughout Europe, especially the mass movements in recent years, means that the nations are no longer an ocean or continent away —they are on our doorsteps and in our neighborhoods! Because of this demographic shift, CEF Europe launched a European-wide initiative called CityKids.

When the modern missionary movement began at the dawn of the 19th century, only three percent of the world’s population lived in cities. In 100 years this number had risen to 14 percent. As we moved into the new millennium statistics revealed that more than half of the world’s population lived in cities. This trend continues – it is estimated that by 2050, 80 percent of the world’s population will be living in large urban areas. Already, in Europe, more than 70 percent of the population lives in cities.

How should we respond to this great missionary challenge and opportunity?

The answer is – as we always should – with wholehearted obedience.

Other Ministries

Each summer CEF organises camps, usually for children who attend GNC. The aim is that children have a fun holiday in a safe and Christian environment, where unsaved children will hear the Gospel and where Christian children will be built up in their faith.
There are all sorts of activities for the children to enjoy including competitions, outings, craft and games, along with Bible time, group quiet times, discussion groups and a missionary story. Volunteers give up their free time or take leave from work to come and help in various aspects of the camp programme. It’s a time for them to really get to know the children in their group. In some cases, day camps are organised. They run the same programme only the children go home at night and come back again the next morning.

Fairs, agricultural shows, parades, festivals, etc are great opportunities for evangelism. Set up a tent or a gazebo or bring a caravan and run a 30-40 minute programme for the children. The Gospel can be shared through singing, a memory verse, a Bible lesson and a quiz. Tracts can also be distributed.

Seasonal party clubs are a great way of presenting the Gospel to unreached children. They could be Christmas, Easter, or Halloween clubs, or a club on a special national holiday, or a birthday club. The programme will include songs, memory verse, Bible lesson, quiz and a snack time, with everything related to the occasion. The club can be held in a home, or an apartment or a community centre.
These one-off clubs could lead to a 5-Day Club in the summer and then to a regular GNC in the winter months.
Contact your National Office for resources for seasonal party clubs.

CEF has the opportunity to go into schools to speak at assemblies and to teach Religious Education (RE) classes. Assemblies can be short in terms of time, but they are great opportunities for presenting the Gospel simply. In RE classes we can work in line with the school curriculum and be a real help to the teachers.

A week of meetings with the children, usually in a church hall or other suitable building. The meeting can last anything from one and a half to two hours. There is Gospel teaching for unsaved children, and also teaching for Christian children to help them grow in their faith.

The programme is usually made up of games, Bible time (singing, memory verse, Bible lesson and quiz), workbook time for the different age groups of children, craft time, refreshment time and a missionary story. Workbook time gives leaders the opportunity to get to know the children in their group and answer their questions. At the end of the week the children take their workbooks home.

A HBC provides a church with an opportunity to reach unreached children in their neighbourhood, and to follow up on those children who trust in the Lord Jesus. The church can also invite the children to be involved in their activities on a regular basis throughout the year.

Other Online Ministries
Zoom, YouTube, Vimeo and FaceBook are just some of the ways that CEF workers across Europe are using to keep in contact with children and teens when they cannot attend clubs or meetings. It is also a great opportunity to share Christian videos, Bible stories and much more. Children spend much time online and we praise God for the opportunity He has given us to use this opportunity to provide quality Bible teaching.

The Bible correspondence courses are available in paper form and/or on-line in several languages. This interactive learning process connects the child with a godly mentor who actively participates in their Christian experience. For many children it can be the only means of discovering the truths found in God’s Word. Lessons are available for various ages and apart from the Bible teaching, include an activity page, memory verse and question page that is to be returned in order to receive the next lesson. Contact the National Office in your country for availability.
