This summer became a window into the world of modern children and the young people who inspire them. I had the chance to observe, learn, and be amazed by the customs, preferences, and everyday lives of today’s youth.
Interestingly, my greatest teachers were not adults or experts, but young people themselves, those in the 16 to 25 age group. These young adults proved to be irreplaceable when it comes to working with children in this Generation Z era.
During the day camps organised by the church I saw how naturally children connected with them. There was laughter, singing, games, and a sense of joy that was contagious. The young leaders seemed to know exactly which songs would get the kids dancing, which activities would make them smile, and how to share the Gospel in a way children could truly understand and live out.
This doesn’t mean that Millennials or older generations have no place in this ministry—quite the opposite! Their role is just as important, serving as encouragers and mentors to these young workers. Their experience, faith, and steady presence give strength and guidance to the energetic passion of the youth.
And perhaps, in a way, it’s a bit like fishing. When the fish finally start to bite, the happiness of that moment makes all the patience, effort, and waiting worthwhile. Watching children respond with joy and faith this summer felt exactly like that—pure reward after dedication and love sown in quiet moments.
